PROSTASONIC addresses a major social challenge such as the treatment of prostate cancer using therapeutic ultrasound under magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Prostate cancer is one of the leading causes of male death and therefore, there is a need for improved therapeutic methods. The goal is to produce an advanced prototype robotic system with 4 degrees of freedom (DOF) that can ablate prostate tissue using magnetic resonance guided focused ultrasound (MRgFUS). The intended application is to use this system for focal ablation of prostate cancer.
