The Use of Hydrogen As An Additive In Marine Internal Combustion Engine
Host Organisation: | H2 Energy Systems Public Company Limited |
Project Budget: | 584.999,94 € |
IDEK Funding: | 497.242,95 € |
A hydrogen production unit will be developed (HO) and implemented for the first time on an auxiliary marine engine (PA1) aiming the reduction of the fuel consumption and emissions of the engine. Hydrogen will be produced via the water solution electrolysis process and the engine’s performance and operating conditions will be continuously monitored in situ with the use of sensors. Based on previous results obtained by on-land large scale industrial applications on several power generators and steam boilers it is expected that a 20% reduction on fuel consumption and greenhouse gaseous emissions will be achieved.
